World Value Index Ranks Goodwill as Its Top Organization
A retired dentist and philanthropist, Dr. George Snelling serves on the board of directors of Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia. Dr. George Snelling has also leveraged his real estate connections to donate an equity stake in the Village West Shopping Center to Goodwill of Middle Georgia, thus providing the organization with more than $2 million in matching grants to fund its job-placement activities.
Dedicated to helping individuals discover their talents and share their gifts, Goodwill Industries achieves this goal through job placement and training. In 2017, for the second year in a row, the organization ranked at the top of the World Value Index for its usefulness to the world at large.
Developed by the marketing agency enso, the World Value Index ranks 149 prominent organizations according to consumer responses. Agency representatives asked 3,000 respondents to evaluate each organization, based on the degree to which it helps people, provides a useful service, and minimizes societal and environmental harm. Goodwill Industries ranked at the top of this list in both 2016 and 2017, coming out ahead of such Fortune 500 companies as Google, Amazon, and Microsoft, as well as such nonprofits as the World Wildlife Fund and Girl Scouts of the USA.
